it’s okay not to be okay

“You are stronger and more resilient than you’ve ever imagined.”
Measuring your days by whether or not you cry
by whether or not you are able to go out after work
by whether or not you are crushed by anxiety
by whether or not you have to physically hold your heart together

is no way to live. Don’t accept it. Be kind to yourself, but as your strength returns to you, fight. Fight for happiness, if for no one but yourself, because you are worth it.

It’s okay to go through the phase where you don’t know how to do that. Sometimes, every encouraging word you hear just seems to make it worse. When people tell you “you’ll be okay,” you might hate that you’re even in a situation where someone needs to say that to you. And if you don’t know how to be okay, that’s fine…

…for a little while. We all fall and we all struggle. It’s even okay to let people see you struggle. But never give up. Ever. There is only one You on this planet. Individual, beautiful, unique You. You are so much more than what you are going through, and what you are going through will make you so much more than you ever imagined you could be. Trust.

Life is a process. It’s okay if you don’t understand. It’s okay if you hurt sometimes, or you fall sometimes, or you break sometimes. Because every time you get back up, your scars will make you into who you are meant to be. And more importantly, your experience will help you help someone else who will break like you are broken.  Isn’t it worth it if you get the chance to help someone else hold their heart together too?
