“Those who leave everything in God’s hands will eventually see God’s hands in everything.”

November was by no means my best month on record, but at the same time, I loved it. I learned a lot about myself, grew closer to my friends, and found my strength. I have been thinking recently about where I’m at, where I am going, and everything it has taken to get me here. I am so very grateful for everything in my past, because without it I wouldn’t be where I am now. Every day carries challenges, and I love tackling them.

In November I jumped into photography, chased the super moon, went on a crazy road trip, and had three Thanksgiving meals.

Do everything with so much love in your heart that you would never want to do it any other way.

October was a weird month.  Our region was hit with a lot of rain at the end of September.  A lot of roads were washed out, my kitchen flooded, and things were left unstable for the approach of Hurricane Matthew.  With the hurricane came an excessive amount of rain, an excessive amount of flooding, and LOT of damage.  Dams burst, rivers rose, and people their homes, and in some cases, their lives.  It was devastating.
The family and I were in the mountains the weekend of the storm.  My kitchen flooded again, but besides that everything for us was fine.
Our community sprang into action.  Neighbors helped neighbors, businesses helped employees, and churches stepped up in a huge way.  My church had thousands of volunteers from morning until night, making meals, distributing water, and providing clean up.  My office adopted a street and helped the home owners gut their homes.  If you would like to donate to assist in continued relief efforts, please let me know.

Favorites of October:
Artist // LANY
Songs // “I Won’t Let You Go” by Switchfoot and “The Secret Place” by Phil Wickham
Album // Paramore
Movie // Hocus Pocus
TV shows // Grey’s Anatomy and Supernatural
Clothing item // black Chelsea boots
Quote // Climb the mountain so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.
Tweet // Is it bad if eating more than one donut a day is becoming a regular thing?

september randoms and favorites

Your options are to stay broken, or to grow and heal. It’s always up to you.

My September was an up and down, winding path that eventually crested into the bright open space of hope. Friends, I never want to be melodramatic, or to beat a dead horse. I’m just being real. We dress up a lot of our social media selves to be this pristine representation of perfection. That isn’t life. When you are hurting, it would be nice to say, “I’m rubber and you’re glue and whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you,” (woah there, flashback) but our hearts don’t always work that way.
Let’s have a refresher on what we’re about here on jamiedaily. // Get out of your house. Get out of your comfort zone. Explore the place that you live. Be healthy. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Choose happiness.
The choice is always yours.

In September I joined a small group, had the opportunity to sing and play synth at the same time with my church’s worship band, instigated a rousing game of NFL weekly picks at the office, and continued my fast of coffee, which may become semi-permanent depending on the way my body feels about that. Also, the region that I live in had an excessive amount of rain that washed out a lot of roads. Experiencing Hurricane Matthew a week later has been absolutely devastating. More on that in my October post, but please keep Fayetteville in your prayers.

Favorites of September:
Artist // Angie Miller (Zealyn–acoustic and live)
Songs // “Fullness” by Elevation Worship and “yea, babe, no way” by LANY
Album // Pride and Prejudice soundtrack
Movie // Pride and Prejudice (ft. Keira Knightley)
TV shows // Lost and How I Met Your Mother
Clothing item // Gap denim vest
Quote // “Know your own happiness. You want nothing but patience–or give it a more fascinating name, call it hope.” -Jane Austen
Tweet // You are not defined by what you are going through. You are defined by what God says about you.
