We finally went on a hike! According to my standards, it was pretty perfect. Not too intense, just long enough, and with plenty of side adventures and photo ops. I volunteered to pay for gas and be the pack mule in order for this hiking trip to happen.

I think that I’m probably at my happiest when I am outside.

Kasey isn’t the biggest hiking/working out fan. She gets migraines from just about anything fun, including hiking. I’m really pleased that this day worked out so well.

We chose to hike this loop because it had a view point. Unfortunately there was a group that wouldn’t move and we had to climb around them to see it well and take photos, but my bitterness toward them has passed.

We didn’t even consider going down these stairs, really. There aren’t any trails at the bottom–just the river that you really don’t want to swim in.

I always ask Jon to take pictures of me and Kasey, so he complained that I never want pictures with him. Oops. Kasey took this one for us.

Kasey found a creek. When we lived in Texas, there was a fabulous creek with steep banks right down the street from our house. We went there basically every day. I still think that climbing around creeks is one of the best things of all time.

This week on the vlog–

I finally got my second tattoo!

exploring the lake at easter | days 3 and 4

Kasey and Jon have been going to this lake house for basically years. They rave about it, brought my parents one time, and make time for it multiple times a year.
This was my first time there, and now I get it. There are pine trees, water, a screened in porch, and so much silence and innocent good times that it is the best addiction I’ve ever found.

Day Three.

Saturday was extremely relaxing. The weather was a little cooler and we spent the day pretty entirely at the lake house. I read a good amount, took a lot of photos, watched Jurassic Park 3 (the one that started my obsession with the series, believe it or not) and just enjoyed each other’s company.

Coco is the biggest water dog I have ever met in my life. We hadn’t been at the house five minutes and she had already jumped in the water. If she wasn’t out by the lake it was time severely wasted in her opinion. None of this “screened in porch” nonsense.

Eragon, you have stolen my heart.

Coco’s first time at the lake she took a running leap off the dock and her entire body went under water. She was traumatized and will only enter the water from the shore now. SOMEONE (probably me) thought it would be funny to nudge her very gently over the edge when she was leaning out to sniff the water. She fell in head first and afterwards needed some calming love and cuddles from her number one, true love, daddy Jon.

Textures. Colors. Love.

We took a small break from the outdoors to play a couple rounds of Settlers of Catan. If you don’t know this game, you should look it up. It’s a fun board game with some decent strategy involved.

Coco is an excellent guard dog.

This is where we spent our weekend. It is picturesque, from the giant windows and the mint door to the porch and the yellow swing.

Jon and I climbed on top of a dock that night to look at the stars. Considering the fact that I didn’t have a tripod, I think these photos turned out alright!

Day Four.

I didn’t take many photos this day. We relaxed out by the lake for a while and Coco went crazy swimming. There were a couple geese that thought teasing her was the greatest game ever. We spent the rest of our time cleaning the house and doing laundry before we headed home in the evening.

That’s it from our weekend away at the lake! I’m sad to see it go, but the memories are wonderful and we have had some good adventures since! I’ll post some photos next week from a recent hiking trip we went on.
